The Paediatric Department is located on the 9th floor of the main Gustave Roussy
building and is divided into various units:
The Day Hospital: "The Village"
This is open from 8 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday. It has a capacity of 8 places and 3 cubicles and offers ambulatory treatment rather than hospital admission.
0-12 years Unit: "The Plain"
This 12-bedded unit is designed for the reception and care by specifically qualified staff of the smallest children (0 to 12 years) in an environment appropriate to the degree of independence of the child.
It is adapted to the presence of parents and incorporates an educational dimension and the participation of parents in the care, so as to maintain the parental role and facilitate discharge back home.
13-20 years Unit: "The Mountain"
This 10-bedded unit is designed for the reception and care of patients aged 13 to 20 years.
The unit is run along lines which are appropriate for adolescents and young adults (AJA).
Continuing Care Unit: "The Sea"
This unit has a capacity of 10 beds. It mainly admits children needing high-dose chemotherapy, to be followed by stem cell transplant. The rooms are, therefore, sterile.
Visiting
There is free visiting between 8 am and 8 pm, including for sisters and brothers.
The only visiting not allowed is that by young children with transmissible childhood infections which are dangerous for children treated in the department, such as colds, sore throats, chickenpox and measles.
