Gustave Roussy takes care to ensure that the administrative formalities for you within the hospital are simple.
The administrative formalities unit is there to answer your questions and, if necessary, to help you. This unit works closely with the Gustave Roussy social services unit.
Treatment costs are usually high. If you have French social security or if your country is signatory to a reciprocal agreement with France, these costs are wholly or partially covered.
If you are not covered by a reciprocal agreement, you will have to pay all of the medical fees. The pricing and the methods of payment will be explained at the time of your outpatient appointment.
If you live in France
- Bring your identity documents with you (National Identity Card).
- Bring evidence of your home address (electricity bill, record of rental payment, etc.), so that we can send mail, especially notification of appointments, to the correct address.
If you are belong to the Social Security System or have Universal Health Cover (CMU)
Please bring your up-to-date health insurance card (carte Vitale) or a valid certificate. A card registration point is available in the central reception area where your card can be updated.
- If you have a Mutual Insurance facility or subscribe to another body which pays your fees, please bring your membership card.
- If you are admitted,
- Bring a cover note issued by your Mutual Insurance. In that way, you will not have to pay the daily fee or the supplement for a single room, though this depends on any restrictions in the contract you hold. (*)
- If you have supplementary universal health cover (CMUC), the daily fee will be charged directly to the organisation providing that, within the restrictions applying to your regime.
- Travel expenses:
- If you live in the provinces, check before you come to GUSTAVE ROUSSY that your travel expenses will be covered by your Social Security branch.
- For journeys of more than 150 km, ask the medical counsellor of your branch for prior agreement to reimburse your travel expenses.
(*) If your Mutual Insurance does offer direct transmission of care costs, it will ask you to supply the following information: Hospital No. 940000664 and Fax No. of the department: 01 42 11 52 86.
If you benefit from State Medical Aid
Please bring the card bearing the notification of the decision with the dates of its validity.
100% cover
If your condition requires it, your Social Security registered family doctor will submit a request for 100 % cover to the medical counsellor of your Health Insurance organisation. Do not omit to inform the administrative formalities unit as soon as you are notified that this has been granted.
If you do not have Mutual Insurance or supplementary universal health cover (CMUC)
You can apply to your local Action Sociale (Social Action) communal centre or to the Gustave Roussy social services unit.
If you come from a European Union country
Before coming to France, you should ask the competent authorities in your own country to supply you with certain documents which form your file.
We draw your attention to the fact that the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid within the EEC only for unexpected emergency hospital admissions when holidaying in France (tourism, etc.).
To be covered for treatment at the Institute, you should provide an S2 or E112 agreement form. Before you come to Gustave Roussy, you should request this form from the affiliated body to which you belong.
Failing such an agreement for cover, you will have to pay all of your medical costs.
You will be asked:
- for an outpatient appointment: to deposit a provisional sum.
- for inpatient or ambulatory treatment: to hand over a deposit corresponding to the estimated total cost of your treatment.
Please obtain information from the medical assistant when you make the appointment.
If you come from a foreign country (outside the European Union)
To obtain medical cover for care at Gustave Roussy it is essential to telephone 01 42 11 42 11. The switchboard will direct you to the appropriate department.
Before coming to France, you should apply to the competent authorities in your own country to establish your file and to obtain a visa, if necessary.
If you are not covered by a body which has a contract with Gustave Roussy, you will be asked:
- for an outpatient appointment: to deposit a provisional sum.
- for inpatient or ambulatory treatment: to hand over a deposit corresponding to the estimated total cost of your treatment.
Please obtain information from the medical assistant when you make the appointment.
