Description
The Gustave Roussy Medical Oncology Department is one of the largest in France with a team of more than 430 personnel. It covers a very wide clinical spectrum consisting of all cancer specialties as well as rare cancers.
Thus, the Department manages patients in the various stages of their disease (treatment, post-therapeutic follow-up and palliation) over the full range of solid tumours and haematological malignancy. It works closely with the Gustave Roussy consultative organ-specific cancer committees. Several of these are headed by a member of the Department:
- Dermatology
- Digestive Tract
- Gynaecology
- Haematology
- Breast disease
- Chest Disease
- Neuro-oncology
- Sarcomas / Complex Tumours
- Urology
In parallel with this treatment activity, the department also provides more general services:
- Cardiology
- Gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Oncogenetics
- Oncogeriatrics
The activities of the Medical Oncology Department are based on the principal goals of the Gustave Roussy Institute:
- Clinical management (conventional admissions, day hospital admissions and outpatient consultations)
- Research activity
- Teaching activity
