Treatment of testicular cancer
Testicular cancer usually arises from the germ cells which produce spermatozoa. There are two types of germinal tumours: seminomas and non-seminomas. Testicular cancer is usually detected as an enlargement of the testis.
Multidisciplinary consultation
The management (diagnosis and treatment) of testicular cancer requires collaboration between doctors from a variety of specialties: chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, radiology and pathology. They coordinate with private doctors from outside the Institute. Each major decision is taken at a meeting of the multidisciplinary consultative committee (RCP). In some cases the patient may need to attend the meeting.
