Professor David Planchard
Professor David Planchard is a thoracic oncologist and head of Thoracic Group at Gustave Roussy, where he is responsible for coordinating the care of patients with lung cancer, pleural mesothelioma and thymic tumours. He is also Chairman of the International Centre for Thoracic Cancers (CICT), a health cooperation consortium involving Gustave Roussy, Hôpital Marie-Lannelongue and Hôpital Paris Saint-Joseph.
An expert in biomarkers and the targeted treatment of bronchial cancers, as well as in immunotherapy, he has been involved in more than 100 phase I, II and III trials and has published more than 130 articles in a number of leading international journals.
Prof. David Planchard co-directs clinical trials on thoracic tumours in order to develop a long-term clinical research strategy based on molecular screening. He co-ordinated the drafting of the latest European recommendations on the management of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (ESMO guidelines) and is a speaker at national and international conferences such as ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), ELCC (European Lung Cancer Congress), ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) and WCLC (World Conference on Lung Cancer).
Professor Planchard is a member of the French Respiratory Society (SPLF) and the French-speaking Intergroup of Thoracic Oncology (IFCT), ESMO, ASCO and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). He is also involved in the national network for thymic tumours (RYTHMIC), the national expert network for malignant pleural mesothelioma (MESOCLIN) and the national network for the management of neuroendocrine tumours (RENATEN).
