Pr Alexandra Leary

Alexandra Leary Professor Alexandra Leary, MD, PhD, is Deputy Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Gustave Roussy and an oncologist specialising in gynaecological cancers. She also chairs the GINECO group dedicated to clinical trials in gynaecological oncology. Her expertise focuses on the early development of drugs for ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers. She trained in medical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Institute of Cancer Research at the University of London.

Alongside her clinical activities, Professor Leary leads the Translational Research Team in Gynaecological Oncology within the Molecular Predictors and New Targets in Oncology Laboratory (INSERM U981) at Gustave Roussy and teaches medicine at Paris-Saclay University.

Internationally recognised, Professor Leary is a member of the Translational Research Group of the European Network for Gynaecological Oncological Trials (ENGOT) and serves on the strategic committee of the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup (GCIG), where she also co-chairs the Phase II Clinical Trials Group. She is a faculty member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and was responsible for the gynaecology programme for ESMO 2022 and ESMO Asia 2023.

She is the principal investigator or co-investigator of nearly 100 Phase I, II, and III clinical trials. She is also the scientific coordinator of the MOSAIC project and leads the Real Life Trial initiative in collaboration with the CRIS Cancer Foundation in Barcelona.

Professor Leary is the author or co-author of over 200 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research.
