Professor Florian Scotté
Professor Florian Scotté is the head of the interdisciplinary department for patient pathway organisation (DIOPP) at Gustave Roussy, which was established in March 2020. Since 1st September 2024, he has been an Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Paris-Saclay.
A medical oncologist, Professor Scotté holds a PhD in sciences, specialising in medical ethics. A national and international leader in supportive care, he is the President of the Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), Vice-President of the French Association for Supportive Cancer Care (AFSOS), and a member of the scientific committee of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Before joining Gustave Roussy, Professor Florian Scotté launched and developed the chemotherapy day hospital at the European Georges Pompidou Hospital (AP-HP) in 2000, before creating the first unit for inpatient supportive cancer care there.
In 2017, he joined Foch Hospital in Suresnes, where he headed the medical oncology and supportive care department. He was instrumental in securing ESMO and MASCC accreditations for both the department and the hospital. He also developed the supportive care day hospital and a shared inpatient unit for medical oncology and supportive care.
Professor Scotté has led several research programmes and is the author of numerous publications, particularly on the use of cooling gloves to reduce the toxicity of certain chemotherapy treatments on skin and nails, and on the organisation of chemotherapy treatment pathways in day hospitals. He is also the creator of the supportive care barometer, a tool assessing the development of these services across healthcare facilities in France.
